Merry-go-round circle
and tight-rope walkers
The playing cards, in particular the king and queen of hearts, and the unpredictable joker, the dice with their aspect of opportunity and destiny, the figures cut from illustrated magazines capturing models in dancing or acrobatic poses, the tender plump babies, the naked couples of happy parents holding hands with their children, the shell, the pearls, minerals worn out by time, are all re-occuring themes rich in symbolic value [...]
Sveva Mandolesi,
Expert of Contemporary Art

My artistic work is full of children, animals, harlequins, minstrels and tight-rope walkers, of merry-go-round and circus, of playing cards and dice, of old and new symbols. It is an enchanted play-space, full of mysterious, ironic associations; a dream world where perception of space and time are different. Symbols of time are often found in my paintings: arrows batteries, fossils, pebbles, minerals, copper wires, pearls, shell, pencils, pen-nibs, papers on which we find the first unsteady words of a baby, the first dictation, the first conposition, the first picture drawn, they are objects, icons that change, move and document, they are the sign of time like the family photographs.
